Pseudo Intellectuals

Mostly across the Indian media organizations, a legitimate claim journalists bear that whatever they disseminate to public will be accepted by the mere fact that they are close to the source. This is absolutely a baseless proposition. If you want to verify the fact by cross-checking some close sources of information, most of their claims would sound ridiculous. Let's take a recent case - the wide-spread communication about swine flu is just half-baked information. When we claim media is the fourth estate in a democratic setup, it's necessary for media practitioners to live up to the expectations of people. But the sad part is that every time media fails to meet our expectation. Those self-proclaimed intellectuals are not really what they claim - there is a great cleavage between their claim and what they practice.
